I think a really great way to get those potential fans in the first place for any small business is to make a short video that people will want to share with others -- maybe not something straight forward explaining something, but something like the Apple I'm a Mac/I'm a PC commercials that generated a lot of buzz, whether or not people liked them or not. Once you've made a video like this, putting it up on YouTube, Vimeo, AdWido and more will put you very close to getting lots of exposure for your small business.
